|New Garda drive to tackle international terror|

Garda Commissioner Noirin O'Sullivan has pledged more resources will be put into developing the force's capacity to confront international terrorism.
Closer working relationships will be built up with international law enforcement - while also focusing on homegrown terrorists as well as "extremist" gangs. The commissioner also promised to reduce domestic crime as one of her top policing priorities for this year.
She has promised a drop in burglaries as well as greater emphasis on tackling domestic, sexual and gender-based violence.
The priorities are outlined in the commissioner's first annual policing plan, which has now been approved by Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald.
The strategy is intended to streamline investigations, leading to greater accountability in the force, and placing more emphasis on victims.
Specialist units will be overhauled and, in some cases re-aligned or amalgamated, to eliminate the current overlapping of responsibilities.
The review is aimed at optimising available resources.
